The killing of Oba Kehinde Jacob Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo in Ondo State, has ignited fresh outrage across the Southwest, with the Forum for Yoruba Unity and Progress declaring that “Yoruba land is under siege.”
In a strongly worded communiqué issued after an Emergency Virtual Meeting held on February 18, 2026, the group described the invasion of a royal palace and the murder of a traditional ruler as “a collapse of preventive security responsibility” and a dangerous sign that insecurity has reached intolerable levels.
Chaired by Dr. Adewale Adeniran, the meeting resolved that repeated attacks on rural communities, settlements, and traditional institutions can no longer be dismissed as isolated criminal acts. According to FYUP, the pattern reflects systemic security failure demanding structural and legislative consequences.
Demands for Immediate Action
FYUP called for:
The immediate arrest and public prosecution of all perpetrators;
Full disclosure from security agencies detailing operational failures and corrective strategies;
Reinforcement of security presence in vulnerable communities;
A coordinated regional security architecture involving Southwest governors, the Amotekun Corps, traditional rulers, and federal agencies.
Most critically, the group urged the National Assembly to fast-track legislation establishing State Police and Community Police for states willing to adopt them.
“Inaction Is Complicity”
FYUP warned that continued delay in constitutional reforms could escalate public frustration.
“The era of debate and procedural excuses must end,” the statement read. “When citizens are repeatedly exposed to violence, inaction becomes complicity.”
The group stressed that security is not a political favor but a constitutional obligation, insisting that lawmakers were elected primarily to safeguard lives and property.
FYUP concluded with a direct message to both legislative and executive authorities:
“Yoruba land cannot continue to bleed while those empowered to act remain slow to respond. The time for decisive action is now.”

Yoruba Land Under Siege: FYUP Demands Immediate Security Overhaul and State Police Law
The Forum for Yoruba Unity and Progress (FYUP) states unequivocally that the security situation in Yoruba land has deteriorated beyond acceptable limits, following the killing of Oba Kehinde Jacob Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo in Ondo State.
At an Emergency Virtual Meeting held on February 18, 2026, chaired by Dr. Adewale Adeniran, PhD, stakeholders of the organization resolved that the invasion of a royal palace and murder of a traditional ruler is not just criminality — it is a clear collapse of preventive security responsibility.
Repeated attacks on communities, rural settlements, and traditional institutions cannot continue without structural consequences.
FYUP therefore demands:
Immediate arrest and public prosecution of all perpetrators;
Full disclosure from security agencies on operational failures and corrective measures;
Immediate reinforcement of security presence in vulnerable communities;
Coordinated regional security architecture involving Southwest Governors, Amotekun Corps, traditional institutions, and federal agencies.
Most importantly, FYUP calls on the National Assembly to immediately pass into law the establishment of State Police and Community Police for states that choose to adopt them.
The era of delay, debate, and procedural excuses must end. Legislators were elected to protect lives and secure communities. When citizens are repeatedly exposed to violence, inaction becomes complicity.
If constitutional reforms are not implemented promptly, public frustration will continue to rise — and that is a situation no responsible democracy should allow to escalate.
Security is not a favor from government; it is a constitutional obligation.
Yoruba land cannot continue to bleed while those empowered to act remain slow to respond.
The time for decisive legislative and executive action is now.
This statement is issued pursuant to the resolutions adopted at the Emergency Meeting and is approved for immediate circulation across national and regional media platforms.
Signed:
Dr. Adewale Adeniran,
Chairman
Forum for Yoruba Unity and Progress (FYUP)
