The Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, mni, has praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support and commitment to the continuous growth and modernization of the State’s public service.
This was contained in a release made available to INFORMdailynews by the Media Officer, Abiodun Atilola.
According to Mrs. Oni, the Governor’s visionary leadership and consistent encouragement have paved the way for groundbreaking initiatives, including the introduction of the Business Process Automation Solution into the Civil Service.
She made these remarks during the 2025 Public Service Week lecture themed “Strategic Leadership Driving Digital Transformation and E-Governance for Sustainable Public Sector Reforms,” held at the Local Government Service Training Hall, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Mrs. Oni noted that, for the first time, the lecture series was segmented into three focused syndicate sessions based on staff grade levels — Management, Senior, and Junior — to ensure relevance, deeper comprehension, and practical application of the lessons. She emphasized that this approach reflects the government’s deliberate effort to make capacity development more responsive to the diverse needs and realities of all cadres within the service.
The Head of Service stressed that digital technology remains the most reliable pathway for strengthening the public service, making it more impactful, transparent, and accountable to citizens. She added that digital transformation reduces waste, curbs manipulation and corruption, enhances service quality, and significantly improves service delivery by equipping officers with better knowledge of rules, regulations, and ethical standards — thereby promoting discipline and professionalism across MDAs.
“I urge every Civil and Public Servant in the State to embrace this initiative wholeheartedly. The Oyo State Government has already taken deliberate steps to make our public service fully driven by digital technology,” she said, noting that the ongoing digital reforms aim to improve workflow efficiency and align service delivery with global standards.
The Guest Lecturer, Professor Olufemi Fakolade, Former Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, encouraged Civil and Public Servants across the State to embrace the digital revolution, adopt smarter public service practices, and support a more dynamic public service framework rather than a rigid one.
