Lagelu Grammar School Old Boys Association (LAGSOBA) has inaugurated a new National Executive Council following the successful conduct of its National Elections, ushering in the 2025–2027 administration.
At the conclusion of the electoral process, Chief Adewale Abass Kadri, Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, was re-elected as National President, securing another two-year mandate to lead the association.
In his inaugural address, Chief Kadri expressed deep appreciation to the Lagelu Grammar School Electoral Committee (LAGECO) for what he described as a transparent, credible and well-coordinated election. He commended members of the committee for their diligence and integrity throughout the exercise.
The National President also applauded various LAGSOBA Sets that have independently undertaken national projects, describing their efforts as a strong demonstration of loyalty and commitment to their alma mater. He urged the affected Sets to mobilise contractors to site without delay, while acknowledging Sets 1995, 1987, 1985, 1992 and 1989, whose projects are already ongoing.
Highlighting the achievements of his administration over the past two years, Chief Kadri listed the completion of the school’s perimeter fencing, which has significantly enhanced security, and the construction of new toilet facilities, leading to improved sanitation on the school premises.
He further disclosed the ongoing renovation of science laboratories, the installation of solar-powered streetlights to enhance safety after dusk, and the roofing of junior school buildings through donations from Lagelites. He also commended the 1989 Set for its ongoing renovation of the computer centre and administrative block, according to a statement jointly signed by the Public Relations Officer, Tèmítọ́pẹ́ Oyèwọlé, and the National General Secretary, Engr. Morenikeji Ayoola, LAGSOBA.
Looking ahead, the President announced a pledge by a member of the 1987 Set to construct a sporting complex within the next year. He also revealed progress toward securing autonomy for Lagelu Grammar School, a development that has resulted in the establishment of an Endowment Fund, which has so far attracted over ₦20 million toward the association’s ₦5 billion target.
Chief Kadri also acknowledged Dr. Innocent Adjenughure of the 1979 Set for his generous donation of ₦10 million, while commending the Set for its sustained support to the association.
