Engineer Aderemi Abbas Oseni, representing the Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, has fired an early warning shot ahead of the 2027 senatorial election, declaring that his ambition is driven by service and a determination to deliver “real-life transformation” to the people.
Husseini, who made the declaration during a campaign progress update, urged Nigerians to support leaders committed to righteousness, integrity, godliness and service rather than politicians who perceive elections as a do-or-die affair.
Quoting Proverbs 29:2, he said: “When the righteous are on the throne, their people will rejoice,” stressing that responsible leadership would translate into improved living conditions in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, water supply and other critical sectors.
The lawmaker also expressed strong support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly its reforms in education, oil and gas, infrastructure, healthcare and agriculture.
He cited the student loan scheme as one of the initiatives he said had opened new opportunities for Nigerian students, while also linking the removal of fuel subsidy to increased government investment in infrastructure.
According to him, ongoing road construction and other infrastructure projects across the country are evidence that the reforms are yielding results.
Husseini said his record in the National Assembly had provided a solid foundation for his aspiration to represent the people at the Senate, listing several constituency projects and empowerment initiatives which he said had been executed or were ongoing.
N2BN SOLAR-LIGHT PROJECT
The lawmaker disclosed that more than N2 billion worth of solar-light projects had been approved for his federal constituency, with contractors expected to commence installation across the 20 wards.
He said the projects would be executed within the next two to three months, while additional interventions in electricity would also be rolled out.
Husseini said: “Before the end of the next six months, almost every area of Ibarapa East/Ido will be given the required expectation in the area of street lighting and solar lights across the whole 20 wards.”
He further claimed that more than 30 transformers had already been supplied to communities in the constituency, with additional transformers expected before the end of his current tenure.
EDUCATION, WATER, EMPOWERMENT
In education, Husseini said three blocks of classrooms had been completed, while thousands of students had benefited from financial assistance towards external examinations.
He claimed that more than 1,500 students had received support for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination, while about 2,000 candidates were assisted with Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination fees.
He said the interventions were designed to prevent poverty from becoming a barrier to education for young people in his constituency.
Husseini also highlighted water projects, including the drilling of boreholes, describing access to potable water as a responsibility of elected representatives rather than something that should be treated as a personal favour to constituents.
He said several boreholes had already been completed in communities within the senatorial district.
“IT’S SERVICE, NOT COMPETITION”
Speaking on his senatorial ambition, Husseini declared that the contest should not be viewed as a political war but as an opportunity to provide better service to the people.
“It is not about competition, it is about service,” he said.
He disclosed that eight boreholes had been completed in one of the local government areas within the senatorial district, while solar-light and bridge projects were also being executed.
The lawmaker said his support for market men and women, artisans and fashion designers was part of his commitment to economic empowerment and self-reliance.
He particularly urged Nigerians to value vocational skills, arguing that successful artisans and fashion designers could earn incomes higher than some professionals in formal employment.
According to him, his interventions were motivated by the belief that public office should be used to improve people’s lives and empower those who need support.
“I’M JUST STARTING”
Husseini told supporters that his current constituency interventions represented only the beginning of what he intends to achieve if given a larger mandate in 2027.
He promised that his senatorial ambition would be anchored on measurable development rather than political confrontation.
He said his ultimate objective was to bring what he described as “real-life transformation” to the people of the senatorial district.
Husseini also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the political opportunity and support, while urging the electorate to judge politicians by their records, integrity and capacity to deliver.
With the 2027 political season gradually gathering momentum, Husseini’s declaration has added another dimension to the emerging contest, as he seeks to turn his constituency record and development agenda into a broader senatorial mandate.
